casino1 The government of Andorra closed the bidding process for the nation’s sole casino license on October 31, 2017. Here it is important to note that the Andorra Gaming Control Board was in charge of receiving applications from interested operators. The gaming regulator and officials are now tasked with evaluating the received proposals and choosing the preferred bidder for the future development of the casino resort. Bidders and their projects will be evaluated on a hundred-point scale. This means that a given integrated resort plan can receive a maximum of 100 points. Andorra’s gaming regulator has explained recently that the immediate availability of land where the resort will be built will be one of the most important factors considered. What is more, the casino portion of the complex will have to occupy at least 21,000 square feet, excluding terraces and any outdoor spaces. Other key criteria will, too, be considered before a winning bidder is selected, but more information on these is to be revealed in future. Aside from Genting Group and its European partners, it was understood that Spanish casino operator Cirsa has put forward two projects for the development of an integrated resort with a casino in Andorra. Both plans include the construction of multi-purpose complexes with both gaming and non-gaming facilities in the Escaldes-Engordany parish in the southern part of Andorra.
